The Center for child rehabilitation was opened with the aid of the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation

On Tuesday, June 14, the Center for Intensive Rehabilitation and Early Intervention for Children with cerebral palsy was opened in Almaty.

This center will serve as a basis for the resource and education center for training specialist from all over Kazakhstan.

The primary purpose of this center is to accumulate and adapt the best domestic and foreign methods as well as conduct the continuous intense rehabilitation and occupation therapy.

The project called The Early Intervention will get a special attention from the investors and medical professionals.

One of the main principles of work at this institution is to use a multidisciplinary approach and teamwork for the benefit of each child.

Organizing proper training for qualified specialists from all regions of Kazakhstan is the task of national importance which will be handled by the Educational and Resource Center (ERC).

Infantile cerebral palsy is a pressing issue for the Kazakh society.

There are many factors that lead to disabilities in children with late diagnostics being one of the most common. It often results in the late initiation of treatment and rehabilitation.

The country lacks the system of complex, continuous, and efficient rehabilitation and early intervention.

There are more than 14 thousand officially registered children who suffer from infantile cerebral palsy with 4 thousand new cases being registered every year.

It means that on average, every 84 out of 100 thousand children have been diagnosed with this disease. Almaty and Astana have the highest incident of ICP (150 and 125 children per 100 thousand citizens aged under 14 years, respectively).

Marat Aytmagambetov, the general director of the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation, stated that his organization has been helping children with disabilities since the first day of its operation. $12,5 million dollars were allocated for the program called “Autism. One world for all”.

The idea of creating the educational and resource center seemed more than reasonable to the board of the Foundation because sharing the best international practices contributes greatly to solving the issue regarding rehabilitation of children who suffer from ICP.

The project will be realized with the financial aid from the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation (330 million tenge), the private charity foundation “Positive Ymit” as well as the regional charity foundation “DOM” headed by Aruzhan Sain.

Children aged from 0 to 14 years will be able to get professional medical help at the new center which is located at Nurpeisova str. 2A.
