Avoid These 7 Silly Mistakes at CAT Exam Center

November 26 is CAT 2017 exam day on which lacs of students will write for a brighter and flourishing future. However, you should ensure that unlike many ignorant fellow mates you do not hamper your chances of taking the exam by not carrying the required documents/items. It happens every year, that many students are debarred from taking the exam because they either don’t have a valid admit card or are carrying some banned items. 


Hence, to assist our readers in ensuring that they do not fall in such category, we have listed below what they may take along on the exam day, items which are not at all to be carried

1-    Dress Code

CAT is the most reputed exam, is always under a lot of questioning and scrutiny in terms of attempts of cheating. As it is considered that hiding chits etc is a common habit of students appearing in any college level exam too. The authorities took a decision that students with closed shoes would not be allowed in the CAT 2017 exam hall. If in case, anyone is found wearing such shoes or socks would be asked to remove their shoes and socks before entering CAT 2017 exam hall.

2-    Hands

In order to make sure there is no cheating. As was caught in many MBBS entrance exams, where medical professionals or poor students used to write the exam with the name of a student who was registered to appear. This racket had brought to light how essential digital finger marks are? This way an assurance is there that the students who have applied are the ones who are solving the exam. That is why authorities have announced and cautioned applicants not to apply ‘Mehndi’ or any chemical color on their hands prior to CAT 2017 exam. For clear digital signatures, it is completely prohibited to put any sort of color on your hands on the exam day.

3-    Identity Proof

CAT 2017 admit card has to be carried to CAT exam hall, it should be in hard copy, laser printed on A4 size paper. Most important is that you should ensure your photograph and signature is readable and visible. There are many times that aspirants forget these details and are not allowed in the hall based on it.

Along with the admit card, you have to carry one valid Photo ID. An original and a copy of the same must be carried. You should keep a note that the ID is not expired. The photograph and signature of the candidate in the document must be legibly printed. If the Name or any other details in the valid ID proof don’t match with the information in the admit card, you won’t be allowed.

The list of photo id which is accepted: College ID, Employer ID, Driving License, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, Aadhaar Card, Identification Affidavit

4-    Time to Reach

It is compulsory for you to reach on time on the CAT 2017 examination day. If in case your exam is in forenoon session, reach at least by 7:30 am to the center. Late comers are not allowed to enter the exam center, so schedule your journey in advance. Make sure you have a definite plan for reaching your exam center on time.

5-    Gadgets

If you are in a habit of wearing any sort of health band, wrist watch etc. Never forget to remove these before going for your CAT 2017 exam. As any sort of mobile phone, earphones, microphones, pager, printed/blank/handwritten paper, pencil box, purse, calculator is strictly prohibited inside CAT exam center. You should make sure no such thing you are carrying.

6-    At the Exam Centre,

There are certain things which will be provided to you at the CAT exam hall, 

Rough Sheet – Do not forget to write your name and registration number on it.

Pen- Both the items are to be returned after the conclusion of the examination.

The PWD candidates will also be provided with the following:

Wheel Chair – For candidates with Locomotive Disability or Cerebral Palsy

Magnifying Screen – For candidates suffering from Visually Impaired

7-    PWD Category Applicants

Only the applicants who belong to this category are allowed to bring the following for CAT 2017 exam.

Scribe/Reader – Visually Impaired or candidates suffering from Cerebral Palsy, who have opted for a scribe, should ensure that the scribe submits the scribe affidavit. Along with it, they will also be required to produce valid photo ID proof, in original.

Other Devices Allowed – Abacus, without a calculator, can be brought along by those who are Visually Impaired. Candidates with Hearing Impairment are also allowed to carry their Hearing Aid device.
